The benefits of Ornithin Decarboxlase Medium

Ornithine decarboxylase (OIK) presents in all nucleated cells and is the rate-limiting enzyme for synthesis of polyamines.
Ornithin Decarboxlase Medium is used for the cultivation and differentiation of bacteria based on their ability to decarboxylate the amino acid. Bacteria that decaboxylate ornithine turn  the medium turbid purple.
Ornithin Decarboxlase Medium is the first biosynthesis and rate control enzyme in polyamine.
